About Shawn Trotter
I’m an audio producer, composer, and multi-instrumentalist based in Nova Scotia, working with podcasters, musicians, and creators to turn ideas into polished, professional audio — both in person and remotely.
My work focuses on podcast editing and production, custom music and MIDI creation, and recording projects, combining modern digital workflows with a deep musical foundation. Because I’m a working musician as well as a producer, I approach audio with both technical precision and musical intent — whether I’m shaping a spoken-word podcast or producing a full music track.
I’ve spent decades inside studios, on stages, and behind the scenes, working across a wide range of styles including folk, blues, jazz, country, Celtic, classical, and contemporary music. That breadth allows me to understand what clients are aiming for quickly and help them get there efficiently — without overcomplicating the process.
In addition to production work, I’ve collaborated with and shared stages alongside artists such as Peter Finger, Jon Anderson, Kelly Joe Phelps, and Big Sugar, and I continue to compose and perform selectively. Earlier in my career, I taught extensively and helped mentor musicians who went on to professional careers — experience that still informs how I communicate, collaborate, and guide creative projects today.
I’m a graduate of Mohawk College’s music program and the founder of the South Shore Guitar Association, a community initiative supporting guitarists and musicians in the region.
Whether you’re producing a podcast, developing original music, or recording a project that needs both technical care and musical insight, my goal is simple: clear communication, reliable results, and audio you’re proud to put into the world.
