DC MacLean

DC. MacLean is a multi-instrumentalist, singer/songwriter and  producer living in Bridgewater, N.S. Dave comes from a musical  family and grew up in Southern Ontario. He started piano lessons  at 8 years old while living in Waterdown, ON. The guitar followed  then banjo, bass, mandolin and violin. Dave began to focus on  Country, Maritime, Bluegrass and folk songs through his teenage  years and started playing instrumental Celtic tunes on the guitar  during this time.

He and an associate opened up the Waterdown School of  Music in 1980, then helped develop and participate in the Artist In  The Classroom Program for the Hamilton Separate School Board.  Dave was performing with several Bluegrass bands in the  eighties, including New Street and The Perry Family band.   In 1986 Dave stepped back from music to start a career with  The City of Hamilton and raise a family. In 2011 (yes, 25 years  later) the Whiskey Epiphany band asked Dave to join them on  fiddle and mandolin; then Juno winning artist Ron Baumber  asked Dave to play fiddle and mandolin with his band and he  toured and recorded with these bands for several years.   Once retired, Dave started writing, recording and performing  vocal and instrumental music with his son Jack MacLean as The  MacLeans as well as doing solo shows. After moving to Nova  Scotia, he continues to perform and record with other artists in  Ontario and in the Maritimes.
